Cae Lleci - Walks & Views

The views from the front of the house and the patio are breathtaking. You can see the three peaks or sisters as they are known locally, of Cader Idris. If you walk past the house and further up the mountain you can see past the house the Mawdach Estuary with sea coming in at Barmouth. If you continue further you will eventually arrive at the Forestry Commission plantations. Along this walk can often see wild deer, buzzards, red kite and other wildlife. One has to be extremely careful to take an experienced walker as the landscape is wild and one can easily get lost.

There are no houses, farms or buildings in the area and one mountain can soon look like another! The views in the locality are absolutely spectacular and a camera and binoculars are essential. You will on clear weekdays experience the RAF undertaking low flying air exercises occasionally. This is absolutely spectacular as sometimes they will fly at around 150 feet above the ground! If you hear the roar of their engines look ahead of where the sound is coming from as they will be already passing you.

Years ago, in Llanfachreth village, there were 5 public houses, a post office and two shops in the village, however there is none remaining. There is a local school which is well attended and a church in the centre of the village. Between the village and the town of Dolgellau is a famous walk called Precipice Walk. This takes around 60 minutes to complete and has some wonderful views.

The nearest place to buy food and supplies is the Spar supermarket just before the town centre.
